Yes, Jas! I have written a memoir on how trauma impacts health and the physical body and now I’m mining the past for safe, cozy memories. I’m collecting them in the present too. I agree with you…the bad experiences and memories made their mark and it might just be permanent. That’s OK, too. The people I love most have been shaped by pain.

Oh wow! Your memoir sounds amazing. I’d love to read it. The Body Keeps Score sort of affirmed everything I always kind of intuited. And yes, I feel like in our culture we’re all trying to be perfectly healed while rejecting where we currently are. It’s hard, but I’ve found it liberating to accept myself where I am and to be open to where I may be going. Also, really enjoyed the Invisible Kingdom. Have you read that?

I haven’t read that one, but I’m adding to my reading list now. Thank you! The Body Keeps the Score was affirming to me and big help in writing my book as it is somewhat of a research memoir. My memoir is called Sleep Like Starfish. If you read it, I’d love to know if it resonates with you. I think it will. Meantime, I’m looking forward to reading yours!

That’s the affirmation I needed right when I needed it! I think it needs a subtitle so I may revise it soon. That is, if can land on just the right words.
